Join NextRequest for an informative roundtable discussion on best practices for public records requests. This invitation-only roundtable will be hosted by Allison Ferreira, the Town Clerk of the Town of Middleborough and a NextRequest power-user.
During the session attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences and best-practices as well as being able to learn from their neighboring cities and towns. Attendees will also hear from Allison on how she’s established templates that have the wording to reflect the changes to Massachusetts laws.
Allison Ferreira, Town Clerk, Middleborough
Allison J. Ferreira was appointed as the Town Clerk of the Town of Middleborough, Massachusetts in 2011. In that capacity she also serves as the Chief Election Official, a Registrar of Voters, Burial Agent, Parking Clerk, Municipal Hearings Officer and the Keeper of Records.
Ms. Ferreira serves on the Executive Board for the Tri-County Clerks Association as the representative for Plymouth County and as the Town Representative for the Middleborough Commission on Disability. She is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks from which she received the designation of Certified Massachusetts Municipal Clerk and is also a member of the Massachusetts Town Clerks Association and the New England Association of City and Town Clerks.
Ms. Ferreira was appointed by the Middleborough Board of Selectmen to act as the Chair of Bylaw Study Committee to update, organize, and codify the bylaws for the Town of Middleborough and the Code of Middleborough was adopted by town meeting in 2017. Ms. Ferreira was also was awarded funding from the Community Preservation Committee for the first historic and vital records project for the Town of Middleborough to provide adequate climate control, filing, storage and digitizing of the Town’s historic and vital records. The project consisted of an extensive review of archival collections for appropriate disposition, development of an electronic accessing program and established a coherent filing system to make the Town’s records and archives more accessible to residents and visitors.
Ms. Ferreira received an Associate’s Degree from Aquinas College in 1995 and is a graduate of East Bridgewater High School. Ms. Ferreira began working for the Town of Middleborough in 2006 as the Assistant to the Town Manager for five years prior to being appointed as the Town Clerk. In addition to her municipal background, Ms. Ferreira also worked as a Paralegal and Human Resources Coordinator in the private sector for eleven years at some of the most prestigious law offices in Boston.
Reed Duecy-Gibbs, Founder and COO, NextRequest
Reed is the Chief Operating Officer and leads product design and business development for NextRequest. He focuses on making applications that are simple, beautiful, and easy to use.
Prior to NextRequest, Reed was a fellow with Code for America and before that he was a Fulbright Scholar working on projects to make urban development information more accessible in Istanbul. In his free time he likes running, making things with his hands, and a good IPA.
